Sandy Rushton

Ms. Sandra Maree Rushton, known to everyone as “Sandy”, 74, of Walterboro, passed away Friday May 18, 2018 at Colleton Place in Walterboro.

A memorial service will be held at 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, May 26, 2018 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel.  The family will receive friends following the service.

Born August 15, 1943 in La Crosse Wisconsin, she was a daughter of the late Grant James Hoyer and Virginia Stortz Hoyer.  She was a retired Mosquito Control Technician for Beaufort County Public work, a job that she dearly loved and enjoyed.  She loved hunting and fishing and watching the Blue Angels when they would perform in Beaufort.  She also loved playing BINGO and watching the Atlanta Braves.

Surviving are: her children, Angie Taylor and her husband Ben of China Grove, North Carolina and Shane Rushton and his wife Wendy of Jacksonboro; grandchildren, Amy Taylor, Emory Taylor, Ainsley Rushton and Drew Rushton; brother, Glen Hoyer and his wife Melissa of Bristow, Virginia; brother-in-law, Gene Grimaund of Beech Island; sisters-in-law, Jan Bertaux of Sebring, Florida and Martha Snipes of Aiken; nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Georgia Ann Williams of Walterboro.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hoyer; and a sister, Mary Grimaund

The family would like to thank the staff of Colleton Place and Amedysis Hospice for the loving care they have given Sandy.
