Mr. Samuel Charles Fennessy, affectionately known as “Mickey”, 85, of Mashawville, entered into eternal rest Thursday evening, July 31, 2025, at his residence under the care of Edisto Hospice. He was the husband of the late Carolyn Bailey Fennessy to whom he was married 52 years.
Born January 22, 1940, in Charleston, he was a son of the late Samuel Francis Fennessy and Frona Mae Brownlee Fennessy. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, having started as a pipefitter and retired as a group superintendent. He was a car enthusiast and was a founding member of the Walterboro Cruisers. He rebuilt many cars, many of which his grandsons now have. He was constantly remodeling and improving the family home, having left a beautiful, cherished legacy in the heart of Mashawville.
Surviving are his sons, Richard Fennessy and his wife Colleen of Columbia, Greg Fennessy of Walterboro, and Michael Fennessy and his wife Glenda of Holly Hill; brothers, Larry Fennessy and Wayne Fennessy; and grandchildren, Seamus Fennessy, Joseph Fennessy, Reagan Fennessy, Clay Fennessy, Bailey Fennessy, Matthew McHenry, Madelyn Fennessy, Cara Fennessy, and Brooke Fennessy. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Fennessy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Colleton County Museum, 506 East Washington Street, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
