Ruth Jennings Smyly

Mrs. Ruth Jennings Smyly, 61, of Hale Drive, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Smyly Cemetery.

Mrs. Smyly was born January 1, 1952 in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Virgil Jennings and Mary Ruth Frasier Jennings. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, watching wrestling and listening to Elvis.

Surviving are: her husband, John Lee Smyly, Sr. of Walterboro; children, Sonja R. Smyly (Dan Sutton) of Cottageville, Tonya Smyly-Huckert (Joey) of Walterboro, Rhonda Williams (Elzie) of Lodge, John Lee Smyly, Jr. (Amanda Hickman) of Walterboro and Ruth Michelle Ballard (William Ballard, III) of Walterboro; sister, Linda Kaye Jones of Walterboro; grandchildren, John Michael Dunn, Kenneth Allen Chambers, Brittany Renee Chambers, Amanda Renee Avery, Ariel Kaitlin Smyly, Dalton Moore, Shelisa Williams, Tyler Moore, Kali Moore, Justin Moore, Emily Lorraine Smyly, John Lee Smyly, III, Trey Duncan, Beth Duncan, Drew Duncan, Dean Michael Hill, Jr. and Destiney Michelle Hill. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Jennings; and her mother and father-in-law, Pearl Carter Smyly and Ernest Webb Smyly, Sr.

The family would like to thanks Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. Michael Blubaugh and Davita Dialysis and the nurses with Colleton Medical Center for the care they have given Mrs. Ruth.
