Ruth Drawdy

Mrs. Ruth Hogg Hiers Drawdy, 91, of 653 Hiers Farm Road entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 3:PM Sunday, January 18, 2009, at the Chapel of the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.



Mrs. Drawdy was born March 8, 1917 in Barnwell County and was a daughter of the late George Marion Hogg and Carrie OBanner Brant Hogg. She was first married to the late Homer Thomas Hiers, Sr. and was the widow of Vandosta Drawdy. She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. She had worked with the Hampton County Literacy and with the Senior Citizens. She loved gardening and flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.



Surviving are her children, Patricia H. Pope and husband, Richard, of Hampton, Rev. Homer Thomas Hiers, Jr. and wife, Erma of Beaufort, Buddy W. Hiers and wife, Emily of Hampton and Marie H. Roache and husband Carl of Beaufort, step sons, Richard Drawdy, Jr. and Charles H. Drawdy, brother, Will R. Hogg of Ulmer, sisters, Evelyn Wall of Newberry and Rean Brooks of Spartanburg. 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 children, Ronnie and Juanita Hiers.



Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, 6404 Hopewell Road, Hampton, SC 29924.



The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2009, from 5 to 7:PM at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES, VARNVILLE-HAMPTON CHAPEL, 1074 Yemassee Highway, Varnville, SC 29944. 803-943-5016.
