HUDSON MILL " Mrs. Ruth Hudson Busch, 84, of 4727 Hudson Mill Road, of the Hudson Mill Community near Ruffin, died Monday morning, May 4, 2009 at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital. She was married twice, first to the late Mr. William Royden Hudson, Sr. and secondly to the late Mr. Joseph Busch.



Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Wednesday morning, May 6, 2009, from Bethel United Methodist Church, 16147 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin with The Reverend James Grubb and The Reverend David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.



Mrs. Busch was born June 11, 1924, in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Lee Givens and the late Florence Crosby Givens. She was a retired teachers aid having worked for the Colleton County School District primarily serving in the Elementary schools. She was a longtime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church " Ruffin Charge, where she faithfully held her membership for seventy-two years. At her church, she was very active in many aspects of the churchs work always being present when the doors were open to serve her Lord and her church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Adult Choir, was a former Sunday School Teacher, worked with the Vacation Bible School, and served on the church council. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women at Saint Johns United Methodist Church in Ruffin. She was a member of the Family Community Leaders (FCL) which was part of the Clemson Extension, was a member of the Senior Friends at Colleton Medical Center and had also attended the Shepherds Care Respite Center in Walterboro. She was a former correspondent for the Hudson Mill Community with the Press and Standard. She will be remembered as a good Southern cook and homemaker, for the love she possessed for her church and bible study groups, and for being a great mother and grandmother, always centering her life around her loving family.



Surviving are: two sons, William Royden Hudson, Jr. and his wife Patty of Walterboro and Alphie Marion Hudson and his wife Carolyn of Hudson Mill; two daughters, Cheryl Hudson Smyly and her husband Timmy of Ruffin and Patricia Hudson Abercrombie and her husband Robert of Summerville; and a brother, Marshall Givens and his wife Helen of Walterboro. There are five grandchildren, Michael Hudson, Dr. Kevin Hudson, Steve Smyly, Dr. Charity Abercrombie McDowell, and Christopher Abercrombie, as well as six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Abercrombie.
