Rusty Phillips

Mr. Russell Thomas Phillips, Jr., affectionately known by all as "Rusty", age 49, of 105 Phillips Pharm Trail Ruffin, entered into rest Monday afternoon, May 13, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, May 17, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Frederick Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Adnah United Methodist Churchyard, Adnah Church Road, Islandton. The family has requested that the staff of Lane Construction serve as honorary escorts and their presence is requested at The Funeral Chapel at 1:30 that afternoon.

Born March 19, 1964, while his father was stationed in Babylon, New York, he was raised in Beaufort County, South Carolina having been the youngest child of the late Russell Thomas Phillips, Sr. and the late Ouida Herndon Phillips. Rusty began with RAE Construction Company which is known today as Lane Construction where he was a respected and dedicated superintendant having been employed by the company for many years. He was a member of Adnah United Methodist Church where he had served on the Administrative Board. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and for a longtime was a committee member for the Federation's Salkehatchie Longbeards Chapter in Walterboro. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - No. 1988 in Walterboro. Rusty was loved by all who knew him and a true friend to anyone he had encountered during his life. The simple pleasure he took in spending time with family and friends was one of the greatest treasures life had afforded him. He was an avid Clemson Tigers fan having just recently taken his daughter, his greatest achievement in life, to her first football game.

Surviving are: his wife of twenty-two years, Mrs. Maryanne Sineath Phillips; his daughter, Olivia Taylor Phillips of the home; a brother, Arthur Augustus Phillips and his wife Laura of Decatur, Alabama; and a sister, Elizabeth Phillips Cranston and her husband Henry of Birmingham, Alabama. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sharon Smith Sineath as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mr. R. Arnold Sineath.
