Ruby Abbott Burns

Mrs. Ruby Abbott Burns, 74, of Charleston, formerly of Walterboro, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Roper Hospital. She was the widow of Mr. William Thomas ”Bill” Burns, III.

Born March 4, 1939 in South Miami, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Emory S. Abbott and Annette Beach Odom. Known to everyone as “Nanee”, she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who always centered her life around her family.

Surviving are: her children, William Thomas “Billy” Burns, IV and his wife Jennifer Burns of Walterboro, and Luanne Cooper and her husband John H. “Johnny” Cooper, Jr. of Charleston; her twin sister, Ruth A. “Nina” Lee and her husband Gordon of Okeechobee, Florida; and her grandchildren, Caitlin Marie McPherson, Joseph Elliott McPherson, Meagan Elise Burns and Olivia Iris Burns. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Abbott; and a sister, Theresa Garcia.

Funeral services will be held 4 pm, Friday, January 3, 2014 at Glendale Memorial Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
