Mr. Royce Delma Rentz, 75, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, June 15, 2026, at his residence under the care of Agape Hospice.
Born May 21, 1951, in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Joseph Guilds Rentz and Norma Mave Strickland Rentz. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a dedicated and well-known employee of Cummings Oil for over 30 years. Royce was an avid outdoorsman and if you knew him, you knew his first love was hunting and being in the woods. He was the founder of and ran R&R Hunting Club for over 45 years. He loved riding his lawnmower and taking care of not only his land, but anyone else’s that he could. Royce was very giving and was devoted to the community. From the time his children were in school through his grandchildren, he helped coach softball for North District and Wade Hampton and also coached baseball for several town leagues.
Surviving are: his children, Lyndsey Dobson and her husband Brant of Crocketville, and Whitney Rentz and his wife Kristin of Varnville; grandchildren, Taylor Dobson and his wife Kayla, Parker Rentz, Casyn Dobson and his wife Belle, Ryland Dobson, and Sabryn Rentz; the mother of his children, Cheryl Brown and her husband Jim; as well as his siblings, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends that he considered his family. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter who was the apple of his eye, Elizabeth Jayse Rentz.
The family would especially like to thank his caregivers: the mother of his children, Cheryl Brown and her husband Jim, Lowcountry Family Services, Your Health, and Agape Hospice for the wonderful care and love that they have given Royce.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to: Open Arms Fellowship Missions, 402 Hoover Street North, Hampton, South Carolina 29924.
Funeral services will be held 5 o’clock, Friday afternoon, June 19, 2026, at Open Arms Fellowship in Hampton. A private interment will be held at Hampton Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation Thursday evening from 6 until 8 at Open Arms Fellowship, Hampton.
