Mr. Roy Thomas Symonds, affectionately known as Duffy, age 60, of White Pine, Avenue, Walterboro, entered into his eternal rest Wednesday morning, September 19, 2012, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Saturday afternoon, September 22, 2012, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Father Bob Horowitz, Rector.
The family will receive friends following the funeral rite until 5 oclock that afternoon in the Harbiston Stateroom of the Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Saint Judes Episcopal Church, 907 Wichman Street, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
A native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Walter Thomas Symonds and the late Gwenyth Hopkins Symonds. He was a construction worker and of the Episcopal faith. He was an avid fisherman and NASCAR Motor Sports race fan.
Surviving are: his wife, Nancy Orbach; a daughter, Summer Chaplin of Boston, Massachusetts and her daughter, Cayden Chaplin, a brother, Tim Symonds of Hopedale, Massachusetts, two sisters, Lisa A. Gannon of Franklin, Massachusetts and Kris D. Graves of Covington, Louisiana; mother-in-law, Mrs. Iris Orbach of Walterboro; two sisters-in-law, Rose Orbach and Karyn Barnes and her husband Ladson; a brother-in-law, Billy Orbach and his wife Carolyn; and nieces and nephews, Jasmin Vance, Andrew Vance, Casey Barnes, Shawn Barnes and his wife Katie and Michael Orbach.
