Roy Murdaugh, Sr

Mr. Roy Murdaugh, Sr., 72, of Keegan Drive, Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Amedysis Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:30 Sunday afternoon, April 21, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Mike Freeman and The Reverend Dr. Zane Brown officiating.

Born March 29, 1941, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Murdaugh and the late Adjorie Rentz Murdaugh. He made Walterboro his home in 1974, having previously resided in Charleston. A man who devoted his life to work, he was the owner of Murdaugh's Garage and Auto Electric in Walterboro. He will always be fondly remembered for his love of cars and mechanic work as well as his avid love for drag racing, being a well known icon in the drag racing community.

Surviving are: his wife of fifty years, Mrs. Rosalie Morrall Murdaugh; a son, LeRoy Murdaugh, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Walterboro; four daughters, Teresa Strickland and her husband Glenn of Manning, Pamela Campbell of Florida, Bebe Brown of Walterboro, and Victoria Murdaugh and her fiancé©e Shane Roberts of Walterboro; and a sister, Marjorie Crews and her husband Billy of Cummings. There are thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren that also survive as well as several nieces and nephews.
