Mr. Roy Lee Jordan, Sr., 83, entered into rest Thursday morning, January 22, 2015, at his home in Cottageville while under the care of Hospice Care of America. He was the loving husband of fifty-one years to the late Mrs. Ethel Dandridge Jordan at the time of her death in 2009.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Sunday afternoon, January 25, 2015, from the graveside at Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak in Cottageville.
Born July 18, 1931 in Chesterfield County, he was a son of the late Brunson Jordan and the late Tiny Louise Perdue Jordan. He served our country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a chemical operator having started with Mobile Chemical which at the time of his retirement had transitioned to Albright-Wilson in Charleston. One of the most memorable parts of the story about Roy and Ethels life together was the joy they found in others always having their doors open to all. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and sharing the treasures of his many fishing excursions with others at his fish-fries was a well-loved and always anticipated event.
Surviving are: two sons, Roy Lee Jordan, Jr. of North Charleston and Bobby Gene Jordan and his wife Christina of Cottageville; a daughter, Joyce H. Roberts of Walterboro; and two sisters, Dorothy Gandy Cagle and Raye Rivers both of Hartsville. There are twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by two sons, William H. Hickman and Burley Glenn Hickman; a son-in-law, Tony Roberts; and a sister, Faye Peavy.
Family and friends are invited to call from 6 oclock until 8 oclock Saturday evening at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro; 843.538.5408. Visit the registry online at: www.briceherndonfuneralhome.com.
