Rosa Lee Spell

Ms. Rosa Lee Spell, 77, of Smith Street, Varnville, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 14, 2013 after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Huggin Oak Church of God. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery.

Ms. Spell was born October 27, 1935 in Jesup, Georgia and was a daughter of the late Reverend Willie L. Barwick and Gussie Copeland Barwick. She retired from Clayton Homes and was also head of the Hampton County Voter’s Registration for many years. Ms. Spell was a member of Huggin Oak Church of God. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and always centered her life around God and her family.

Surviving are: her children, Toni Smoak and her husband Jerry of Varnville, Livia Freeman and her husband Gary of Early Branch, Paula Cook Preuss and her husband Leo of Varnville, Wendy Phillips and her husband Donnie of Jesup, Georgia, Wendell L. Spell, Jr. of Jesup, Georgia, and Charlton D. Spell of Varnville; sister, Inez Barwick of Jesup, Georgia; grandchildren, Beverly Cook, Mysti Long, Jonathan Schaffer, Donnie Phillips, Jr., Jerri Anderson, Gary Freeman, Jr., Burt Phillips, Starla DeLoach, Gwynne Lastinger, Alex Ingalsbe, Charlie Spell, Jr., Garrett Phillips, Samuel Freeman, Trey Spell, Joel Freeman, Spell Phillips, Mia Phillips; great grandchildren, Chandler Cook, Jordan DeLoach, Anthony Cook, Grace Schaffer, Madison Long, Megan Long, Ashton Freeman, Savannah DeLoach, Zachary Leggett, Jared Long, Carrie Freeman, Walker Long, Jonathan M. Schaffer, Alexis DeLoach, Payten Anderson, Kiersten Ingalsbe, Ingrid Phillips, Sarah Freeman, Caden Phillips, Gunner Anderson, Lenlee Phillips, Morgan Lastinger, Hannah Phillips, Evan Phillips, Tucker Ingalsbe; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gussie Beasley; a brother, Lamar Barwick, and a son-in-law, Pete Cook.
