Ronnie Cooper

January 29, 1918 — April 1, 2015

Mr. Ronnie Cooper, 97, of Smoaks, entered into rest Wednesday morning, April 1, 2015, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, April 4, 2015, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Pastor William Underwood officiating.  Interment will follow at 6 o’clock in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia.

Born January 29, 1918, in Columbia, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Ronnie Cooper and the late Sallie Elnora Rogers Cooper.  He served our country faithfully in the United States Army Air Core as an Airplane Mechanic during World War II.  He retired as an electrician from Whaley Electrical Services.  He was a member of Summerville Community Seventh Day Adventist where he served as an Elder and Deacon.  He will be fondly remembered for his love of gardening.

Surviving are:  the love of his life whom he was married to sixty-two years the day of his death; Mrs. Helen Thomas Cooper; two sons, Joseph Ronnie Cooper and his wife Jamie of Toledo, Ohio and James Timothy Cooper and his wife Donna of Fletcher, North Carolina; a daughter, Jerri Yvonne Suttles of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Darrow, Johnny, and Frank; and three sisters, Lanilta, Elise, and Lib.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that so desire, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Summerville Community Seventh Day Adventist, 520 Gahagan Road, Summerville, SC 29483.
