Mr. Ronald H. Ordel, 88, of Walterboro, entered into rest Friday morning, November 4, 2022, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.
Born March 29, 1934, in Long Branch, New Jersey, he made Walterboro his home for the past fifty-five years and he was a son of the late Arthur W. Ordel and the late Jessie Welliver Ordel. Mr. Ordel received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Bridgewater University and was a retired counselor from the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department in Walterboro. He was a member for over fifty years at Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro where he faithfully served as an usher.
A beloved member of the Walterboro community, he was constantly seen in and around our town and attending the morning coffee group at Hiott’s Pharmacy, where each day the solutions to the world’s problems where discussed. He was a member of the Walterboro Civitan Club and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks – Walterboro Lodge No. 1988. He was also very active with the Colleton County Relay for Life and was proactive in persevering the history of our Hickory Valley Neighborhood.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Bennie H. Ordel; three children, Karen Ordel (Thomas Le Duc) of Park City, Utah, Kellie Ordel Meyer (Gene Meyer) of Awendaw, and Ronald Brady Ordel of Walterboro; a brother, Ralph J. Ordel of Lynchburg, Virginia; and a sister, Jessie Anne Pullen of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur A. Ordel, Jr.
The relatives and friends of Mr. Ronald H. Ordel are invited to attend his funeral service which will be conducted at 3pm Wednesday afternoon, November 9, 2022, from the graveside in Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
