Ronald A. Buchanan

Mr. Ronald Alfred Buchanan, 74, of Walterboro, entered into rest Monday afternoon, March 21, 2022, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston.

Born December 25, 1947, in Olanta, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Alfred G. Buchanan and the late Nellie Mae Pigatte Buchanan.  He retired from Asten-Johnson in Walterboro after over thirty years of service as a loom operator.  Ronnie enjoyed work, and after his retirement began working with the maintenance department of the Colleton County School District.   He loved and centered his life around his family.  He was always a constant supporter of his children as they grew up and he always participated in whatever they were a part of.  He will be remembered for taking special pride in his grandchildren.

Surviving are: three sons, Wesley Buchanan and his wife Courtney of Charleston, Ron Buchanan and his wife Sabine of Mount Pleasant, and Robert Buchanan and his wife Hannah of Hampton; a daughter, Dawn Withrow and her husband John of Walterboro; a brother, George “Buddy” Buchanan of Walterboro; and a sister, Dean Roberts of Saint George.   He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Austin, Shelby, Arabella, Kadence, Brittini, Chris, Emery, Chandler, Arwen, and Logan; and six great grandchildren, Khloe, Madi, Liam, Bentley, Autumn, and Ivan.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made in his memory to:  Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
