Master Sergeant Rodrick Kinney Sparrow, Jr., United States Air Force (Ret.), age 74, of Overhill Drive in the Forest Hills Subdivision of Walterboro, passed away Thursday morning, November 21, 2013 at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Monday morning, November 25, 2013, in Bethel Presbyterian Church, 403 Church Street, Walterboro. The Reverend Dr. Richard Cushman officiating.
Born March 7, 1939, in Wilmington, North Carolina, he was a son of Rodrick Kinney Sparrow, Sr. and Helena Slaughter Sparrow. Mr. Sparrow was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Sparrow was married to Maryann Sessions Sparrow. Their home was blessed with two daughters, Cricket Harris and her husband Greg of Blythewood and Maryann Bird and her husband Daniel of Walterboro. They were blessed with three grandchildren, Greg Harris, Rachel Harris, and Madison Bird; and two great grandchildren, Makala Coleman and Aiden Harris. He leaves behind a sister, Bobbie Cressionnie and her husband Jeff of Picayune, Mississippi. He also leaves behind his precious cat Breezy. Mr. Sparrow was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ann Sparrow Burch; and a granddaughter, Miranda Coleman.
