Mr. Rocky Mikelett Barnes, Sr., 49, of Round O, entered into rest Saturday, June 20, 2015.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2015, form The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Great Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born August 15, 1964, a native of Colleton County, he was a son of Samuel M. Barnes, Sr. and Patricia Evans Paxton.  He served faithfully in the United States Army where he was a Ranger, Sniper, and also was an Air Borne Ranger and  Instructor.  He loved his country and serving his fellow man was his greatest passion in life.  He served faithfully for 17 years until being wounded during combat.  A loving husband, father, and friend, Rocky was always willing to help anyone he could.  He started the group known as Vets Taking Care of Vets.  He will always be remembered for his avid love of fishing and hunting.

Surviving in addition to his father of Walterboro and his mother of North Carolina are: his wife, Tina Davis Barnes; four children, Rocky M. Barnes, Jr.   (Ashley Renea) of Walterboro, Tiffany Mae Kearse (William) of Walterboro, Mikayla “Boo-Boo” Barnes of Round O, and Talon Kody Barnes of Round O; a sister, Christy Barnes of Florida; and four brothers, Randy Barnes of Walterboro, Ricky Barnes of Walterboro, Justin Barnes of Walterboro, and Jim Paxton of North Carolina.  There are two grandchildren, Sheldon Manning Douglas Kearse and Payslee Madyson Barnes that also survive as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends who Rocky considered as his family.
