Roberta Barnes

WALTERBORO" Mrs. Roberta Headden Barnes, 85, of 521 Cumberland Street, entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Shirley Barnes.



Funeral services will be held 2 oclock, Sunday, November 8, 2009, at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.



Mrs. Barnes was born may 1, 1924 in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Lewis Malcolm Headden and Fannie Craven Headden. She was a retired seamstress at the Walterboro Dress Plant. She was a precious wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Samuel Mikelett Barnes, Sr.



Surviving are: her children, Samuel M. Barnes, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Walterboro, Shirley Varn and her husband Grady of Walterboro, Caroline Moyet and her husband Carmelo of St. George and Jackie Barnes, Sr. and his wife Paulette of Walterboro; 18 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 1 grandson; 2 granddaughters; brothers, Northern Headden, Foch Headden, Raymond Headden and Howard Headden; and sister, Nellie Hiott Cochran.
