February 10, 1956 — June 4, 2015

Mr. Robert Alvin Haynes, affectionately known to all as “Yankee”, age 59, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at his residence in Walterboro.

A celebration of his life will be conducted Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 3 O’ clock in the afternoon, at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 5277 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.

“Yankee” was born February 10, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Alvin and Margaret Haynes, having made Walterboro his home over 41 years ago. He was a member of Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church, and had also attended Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. He served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.  Yankee was a loving husband of 25 years to Lorrie, and caring father to Samantha. He had the biggest heart around, helping anyone who needed him, and he never met a stranger. He loved to hunt and fish, and was a member of Hickory Hill Hunting Club. He had a special fondness for his beloved hunting dogs.

Surviving are his wife, Lorrie; a daughter, Samantha, of Gaston; father-in-law, Parker Lyons; a brother, David Haynes of Long Beach, CA; a nephew, Wayne Haynes of Long Beach, CA; a cousin, Kenneth “Peanut” Crosby and his wife Christine, of Walterboro; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, whom he cared deeply about.

For those who so desire, memorial massages and thoughts of condolence as well as memories of Yankee may be shared at the online registry by visiting: www.briceherndonfuneralhome.com.
