Mr. Robert Wayne Rourk, 75, of Ruffin, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, December 5, 2019, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Born April 12, 1944, in Charleston County, South Carolina he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Allen Rourk. He served our country faithfully in the United States Army having served for three years in Germany. He was a retired electrical supervisor from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Saint Johns United Methodist Church in Ruffin. He will always be remembered for his love of “Beach Music” and his love for the outdoors, having been an avid hunter in his earlier years. He adored his two dogs, “Lucy” and “Peppy”.
Surviving are: his wife of twenty-three years, Mrs. Mary “Cherry” Padgett Rourk; a son, Robert Wayne “Bobby” Rourk, Jr. of Islandton; a step-daughter, Mandy Tuten of Ruffin; and four grandchildren, Cooper Tuten, Caysen Tuten, Kayla Rourk, and Brittany Rourk. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Lee Rourk; and a brother, Richard Rourk.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
Funeral services will be held privately.
