Robert "Bobby" Meetze, Jr

Mr. Robert Edward Meetze, Jr., affectionately known by many as “Bobby”, age 64, of Woodlawn Street in the Forest Hills Subdivision of Walterboro, South Carolina entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, October 22, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 Saturday afternoon, October 25, 2014, at the Carter’s Ford Baptist Church, 6507 Lodge Highway, Lodge, South Carolina. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro, South Carolina.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 o’clock in the Sanctuary of Carter’s Ford Baptist Church.

Born June 1, 1950, a native of Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Robert Edward Meetze, Sr. and the late Jennie Ruth Hodges Meetze. He received his associate degree in drafting from Trident Technical College. Bobby demonstrated his strong work ethic by his dedication to a career that began at J. P. Stevens in Walterboro and spanned over the course of forty years allowing him to see the company become CCX and New York Wire before his retirement. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in the Historic District of Walterboro and was faithful in attendance alongside his wife at Carter’s Ford Baptist Church in Lodge. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and will always be remembered by his family for his love, generosity, and uncanny ability to fix anything.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Barbara Benton Meetze; and three children, Edward Jack Meetze and his wife Stephanie of Savannah, Georgia, Robert Glenn Meetze and his wife Amee, and Jennie Leigh Meetze all of Walterboro. There are two grandchildren, Courtney Bishop and Sawyer Meetze and a brother-in-law, Bill Johns of Columbia.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Carter’s Ford Baptist Church, care of Elaine Bishop, 8648 Lodge Highway, Lodge, South Carolina 29082.
