Funeral services for Mr. Robert Alexander Long, age 84, of Whitmire, who entered into rest Sunday afternoon, October 9, 2022, will be conducted 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, October 22, 2022, from the graveside in Evergreen Cemetery, Bladen Street, Beaufort. The Reverend Cheri Griffin Yates officiating.
Born August 28, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Harrill Holmes Long and the late Gladys Darlene Moss Long. He was a graduate of the University of The Arts in Philadelphia, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. After working for a short while as a Design Engineer, he began to follow his passion for photography. He established Robert Long Photography in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and worked a long and dedicated career to a profession he so dearly loved. His work was included in countless publications, such as Vogue Magazine and European Vogue as well as covers for Philadelphia Magazine. He was once voted as the top fashion photographer in Philadelphia. His love for art, photography and travel lead him to Europe as well as Canada where he worked and lived. He enjoyed camping, being at the beach, cultivating his yearly garden, and renovating his home. Robert was truly a man of many trades and abilities. He was a family man and dearly loved his son in who’s care and at his home where he entered into his rest.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Faith Amelia Cureton Long; a son, Derek Steele Long of Walterboro; and two step-children, Heather McMillan of Stephenville, Texas and Harold Arnold, IV of Pensacola, Florida and their families. He is also survived by dear friends, Michelle Stone, Jeffrey Dion, and David and Debbie Harris.
