Robert "Bob" Hendricks

March 11, 1937 — August 16, 2017

Mr. Robert Gene Hendricks, affectionately known by all as “Bob”, age 80, entered into rest surrounded by his loving family Wednesday afternoon, August 16, 2017, at his home in Walterboro, while under the care of Patriot Hospice.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Sandy Walters Hendricks and his second wife, Mrs. Faye Rentz Hendricks.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, August 19, 2017, from Grace Advent Christian Church, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.   The Reverend Wayne Lucas officiating.  Interment will follow in Doctor’s Creek Baptist Churchyard, 126 Doctor’s Creek Road, Walterboro.

Born March 11, 1937, in London, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Owen and Ada Edwards Hendricks.   Bob was a man of many traits. He was a machinist, having operated Bob’s Machine Shop in Walterboro.  For many years, he was a machinist at Dynamtic in Walterboro and had also done constriction work for Bobo Hudson.  However, his work and talents far exceeded his occupations.

He had attended Grace Advent Christian Church, was a member and well known face at the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks – Walterboro Lodge No. 1988, formerly active at the Walterboro Moose Lodge, and was very active in the Walterboro Abate Club.   He was a talented musician who enjoyed singing and playing the banjo and guitar.  He built race cars, enjoyed traveling, loved horses, and adored motorcycles – which was one of the greatest loves in his life.  He will always be remembered for his smile, the heart of gold he possessed, never meeting a stranger, and always willing to do for others.

Surviving are: four daughters, Kathy Price of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Sherry Fox and her husband Marion of Walterboro, Kim Wright and her husband Doug of Edisto Island, and Bobbie Worthington and her husband Eric of Titusville, Florida; a step-son, Matthew W. Rentz and his wife Barbara of Walterboro; and a step-daughter, Jennifer Padgett and her husband Shannon of Smoaks.  There are fourteen grandchildren, Hannah Worthington, Brayden Worthington, Kara Fox, Courtney Clanton, Hallie Godley, Savannah Wright, Todd King, Charity King, Whit Price, Dylan Price, Faye Ann Rentz, Rose Rentz, Caitlyn Nettles, and Nicholas Nettles; as well as fourteen great grandchildren.
