Mr. Robert Lee Ferguson, Sr.,affectionately known as "Jail Bird", 77, of Pocotaligo Road, Hampton, entered into rest Friday evening, August 22, 2014.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, August 25, 2014, from The Lighthouse Church, 2435 Augusta Hwy, Hampton. Interment will follow in Gooding Cemetery.
Born June 3, 1937, in Barnwell County, he was a son of the late Edgar Ferguson, Sr. and the late Eugenia Laird Ferguson Newsome. He was a retired truck driver, having worked last for Ferguson Forest Products. He was a member of First Christian Church of Hampton and was currently attending Lighthouse Church in Hampton. He will be fondly remembered for his love of fishing and gardening. Robert loved his family and will be missed by a family who loved him dearly.
Surviving are: his wife of 57 years, Ida Belger Ferguson, a daughter; Shelly Ferguson Stewart (Jeff) of Hampton, a brother, John Ferguson (Geraldine) of Grover ; a sister, Betty Hutzler (Harry) of Bonneau and sister-in-law, Jeanette Ferguson of Allendale. There are seven grandchildren, Tabatha Freeman Brown (Craig), Samantha Freeman, Betty Jane Ferguson, James Allen Ferguson, Jamie Lee Ferguson, Steven Edward Oser (Krystal) and Christopher Matthew Stewart; seven great grandchildren, Logan, DayQuan, Shawn, Kaylee, Leah, Jayden, and Ariauna; and several nieces and nephews that also survives. He was predeceased by a son; Robert Lee Ferguson, Jr.; a brother, Edgar " Pee Wee" Ferguson, Jr. and a sister, Laurie Taylor.
