Robert Conklin, Sr

Mr. Robert Bob Donald Conklin, Sr., 64, of 59 Branch Hollow Drive, Walterboro died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Conklin was born April 13, 1945 in Plymouth, England and was a son of the late Donald Edgar Conklin and Vera Taylor Conklin. He was a retired owner and operator of his own truck and contracted with Graebel Van Lines. He was a Navy veteran, having served in the Viet Nam Conflict. He was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church and the American Legion. He was an avid bowler. He was a devoted husband and father and great provider for his family.



Funeral services will be held at 5:30 PM Wednesday in the Walterboro Chapel of the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, with visitation to follow until 8:30 PM.



Surviving are his wife, best friend and soul mate of twenty-nine years, Suzanne Gregory Conklin; two sons, Joshua David Conklin of Walterboro and John Robert Nivens II and wife, Jennifer, of Charleston; brother, Donald Taylor Conklin and wife, Helen, of Yuma, Arizona; sisters, Doreen Kline of Greensboro, North Carolina and Sandi Page of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren, John Robert Nivens, III, Allyson Nicole Nivens and Michelle Paige Nivens. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael James Conklin.



In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made in Bobs memory to the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, PO Drawer 50, Walterboro, SC 29488.
