Mr. Riddick Marshall Varnadoe, affectionately known as "Pops", age 67, of Azalea Drive, Summerville, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, May 15, 2012, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Saturday morning, May 19, 2012, from Living Word Outreach Ministries, 1705 Barracada Road, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery.
Mr. Varnadoe was born December 19, 1944, in Ruffin, and was a son of the late Henry Willis Varnadoe and the late Nettie Crosby Varnadoe. He served his country in the Army National Guard, and for many years he was an estimator for BeSteel in Walterboro and then was employed by T and T Hauling where he was a supervisor. He came to know Christ in the latter part of his life and was a devoted member of Bacon Bridge Free Worship Center in Summerville where he was a Sunday School Teacher for the Adult class. He loved sports, having coached little league ball and was also an umpire for the Colleton County Recreation Department. He was an avid Miami Dolphin Fan. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Surviving are: his wife of forty-eight years, Lorene Cook Varnadoe; a son, Bobby Varnadoe and his wife Joni of Walterboro; two daughters, Deborah Varnadoe Bishop and her fiancé© Tony Stanley of West Ashley and Susan Varnadoe Rumfelt and her husband Mike of Walterboro; and three brothers, Billy Varnadoe and Olin Varnadoe both of Saint Stephen and Kenneth Varnadoe and his wife Dorene of Ruffin. There are six grandchildren, Samuel K. Bishop, Caleb S. Varnadoe, Asher J. Varnadoe, Zachary J. Varnadoe, Joshua D. McAlhany and Jonathan W. McAlhany; as well as on great grandchild, Anthony Triston Bishop that also survive.
