Richard David Stone

Richard David Stone, 67, of Walterboro, passed away Wednesday morning, July 10, 2024, at his residence. Born December 20, 1956, in Walterboro, South Carolina to the late Johnnie Boyd Stone, Sr., and Catherine Eleanor Stanley Stone. Richard loved the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, fishing, playing horseshoes and swimming. From a young age he loved all animals and would not hesitate to catch any sort of critter. When he was young, he would startle his mother with rattlesnakes in his room, then eventually his family when they would come home to find a gator in the tub. His love for being around family was evident every weekend when they had cook outs and spent time together. When he was not enjoying the outdoors he would shoot pool or watch television. Richard loved westerns and watched them until the day the Lord called him home. He is lovingly remembered as the man who was not scared of anything, not even dying, because of his faith in God and knowing he would spend eternity in Heaven.

Surviving are: his wife of forty years, Mary Angela Warren Stone of Walterboro; sons, David Stone and his wife Sabrina of Georgia, Jonathan Stone of Walterboro, Billy Stone and his wife Candace of Walterboro, and Anthony Stone of North Carolina; his daughter, Kelly Stone of Walterboro; brother, Ricky Stone and his wife Suzanne of Walterboro; sisters, Sharon Thorson and her husband Earl of Walterboro, Betty Stone of Walterboro, and Janice Stone of Walterboro; grandchildren, D.J., Daniel, Emily, Jonathan, Jaidyn, Aiden, Brenden, Corbin, and Garbriel; a special niece, Jamie Williams; a dear friend, Becky Poland; and many other numerous friends, loved ones, and extended family members.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Judy Jennings and Jean Groves.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:30AM, Monday morning, July 15, 2024, from the graveside at Bedon Baptist Church, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro.
