Richard Smith

Mr. Richard Keith Smith, 72, of Walterboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Mr. Smith was born at the Army Air Force Base near Walterboro on November 21, 1951, and was the son of the late Duncan Calhoun Smith, Jr. and Elizabeth “Libby” Beach Smith.  Richard grew up in Walterboro and graduated from Walterboro High School in 1970.  He also attended the Baptist College in Charleston.

Surviving are: his two children, Lisa Smith Kennemore and her husband, Kris of Charlotte, North Carolina and Keith Tanner Smith and his wife, Rachael of Belton; and their mother, Mary Ann Smith of Walterboro; two grandchildren; an uncle, Jack Beach of Walterboro; many cousins; and a special niece. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Peggy Jean Bullock Smith of Barnwell who passed away in a car accident; and his former wife, Paula Smith who passed away in 2023 from Alzheimer’s.
