Richard Smith

Mr. Richard Aimar Smith, 38, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday evening, July 28, 2018, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born October 24, 1979, in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Bobby Joe Smith and the late Daisey Warren Smith and was raised by his grandmother, the late Dorothy Crosby Smith.  He was a Test Room Operator at Freudenverg Ceiling Technologies.  To say Richard was an avid fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks would be an understatement; The Carolina Gamecocks was his world.   He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Richard lived life to the fullest and knew the true value of family,  He was always present and always centering his life around those he loved.

Surviving are:  his wife, Becky LaBar Smith; three children, Bobby Smith, Cole Smith, and Jacob Smith, three step-children, Taylor Sanders, Davey Sanders, Andrew Searles; and a sister, Lisa Smith of Walterboro.    He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sharon LaBar and her husband David Johnson; as well as his extended family whom he dearly loved; Lynn and Patricia Smith and their daughter, Drena Hazel and her husband Kevin; and Steve Harrison and his children, Elizabeth Harrison and Steven Harrison and his wife Karmyn as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to:  Spina Bifida Clinic at Medical University of South Carolina, 135 Rutledge Avenue, Charleston, South Carolina 29425.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, August 1, 2018, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
