SHUNK, RICHARD
Mr. Richard Durborow Shunk, 87, of Klein Street in Walterboro, departed this earthly life Saturday evening, June 9, 2012, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

The funeral ceremony will be conducted 7 o'clock Tuesday evening, June 12, 2012, from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 842 Bedon Road, Walterboro with Brother Stephen Lyons officiating.

In lieu of floral tributes, requests have been made that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to the Walterboro Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, care of 290 Country Lane, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Mr. Shunk was born October 18, 1924, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he resided in Lancaster county before having made Walterboro his home for the past thirty-eight years where he retired from Mighty Auto Parts Supply as a Purchasing Agent. He was a World War II veteran having served his country in the United States Army as a telephone operator.

Richard's desire to use his life more fully in God's ministry motivated him to move to Walterboro in 1974, where he served as a minister and elder in the Walterboro Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He devoted countless hours in the Christian Ministry preaching throughout Colleton County. He faithfully served as the Walterboro Congregation Secretary, Accounts Servant, Trustee, and in other positions of responsibility over the past thirty-eight years. He also volunteered to assist or oversee various administrative departments for many circuit, district, and international conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses held through these years. Richard was always ready to share his knowledge of the Bible with others and as a result, he touched many lives in a positive way. Richard centered his life on activities to help others come to an accurate knowledge of Jehovah God and his Kingdom.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mrs. Patricia Boyce Shunk; and a son, William Randall Shunk and his wife, Patricia Jane Shunk of Columbia, Pennsylvania.
