Mr. Richard George Murray, 76, of Red Oak Road, Cottageville, entered into rest Thursday morning, September 18, 2014, at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Helen Long Murray.
Born September 25, 1937, a native of New Rochelle, New York, he was a son of the late Rufus Edward Murray, Jr. and the late Isabel Munroe Murray. He served in the United States Air Force. After having traveled the country and residing in various states because of work and the military, he made the lowcountry of South Carolina his home for the past twenty years. He worked in the comupter industry, having been a computer builder and fabricated as well as a trouble shooter for Borroughs Computer Corporation. After that retirement, he then began work in the security industry having worked for Pinkerton Security until his second retirement. He graduated from Trident Technical College with a degree in Criminal Science. George was a gun enthusiast, having been a member of the National Rifle Assocation and was a Cowboy Shooter in the Palmetto Gun Club of Summerville.
Surviving are: his children, George, William, James, Nancy, and Roger; a sister, Susan Goodwin Murray; and four grandchildren, Maggie, Howie, Christopher, and Eli.
