Mr. Richard Manning Linder, Sr., 78, of Smoaks, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Palmetto Heart.
Funeral services will be held 4 pm, Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Berea Advent Christian Church. Interment will follow in Hagan Cemetery.
Born October 15, 1937 in Bamberg County, he was a son of the late James Westbury Linder, Sr. and Letha Stevens Linder. He served his country faithfully in the United States Coast Guard. Mr. Linder was a retired sheet metal worker, having worked most of his life at the Savannah River Site. He was a member of Berea Advent Christian Church. He loved fishing and hunting when he was able and loved taking care of his animals. Most of all he loved his family and loved life, always living it to the fullest.
Surviving are: his loving wife of 41 years, Linda R. Linder of Smoaks; daughter, Hattie Rebecca “Becky” Linder-Hart and her husband Allen of Smoaks; grandchildren, Richard Woodrow Linder and Kristina Linder Jenkins and her husband Stephen; a nephew that he loved as a son, Jake Carter of Smoaks; brother, Oscar Linder of New York; and a sister, Anna Neal Day of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by son, Richard Manning Linder, Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.
