LEADLEY, Richard
ORANGEBURG " Mr. Richard Churchill Leadley, 90, of 311 Lovely Circle, The Oaks, Orangeburg, died Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 2008, at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro. Mr. Leadley was a lifelong resident of the White Church Community in Troy, New York before moving to Orangeburg.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 oclock Friday afternoon, June 27, 2008, from the Amos Chapel of The Oaks in Orangeburg.
Mr. Leadley was born August 3, 1917, in Troy, New York and was a veteran of World War II, having served his country in the United States Navy in Naval Aviation Air Operations. He entered the service in 1942 and served in the Aleutian Islands as an air operations officer. After his time in active duty, he continued to serve as a Naval Reservist.
Richard was associated with the Troy Savings Bank. For some years he did appraising and mortgage work. On October 1966, he became assistant secretary of the bank. He attended the American Institute of Banking classes and became active in the business affairs of the bank. He has served on the board of the Albany Chapter of Realtors and attended real estate classes at Russell Sage College and Brown University.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Mrs. Mable Wannamaker Leadley of Orangeburg. South Carolina and several nephews and nieces to include, Colonel Richard Barringer (U.S. Air Force Ret.) of Virginia, Lois Nelligan of Boca Raton, Florida, Catherine Samples of Troy, New York, and George Barringer of , Elmira, New York.
