Richard "Danny" Avant

Mr. Richard Daniel Avant, affectionately known to everyone as “Danny”, 49, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday evening, May 31, 2024.

Born April 13, 1975, in Walterboro, he was a son of Dorothy O’Quinn Hairston and the late Richard Heber “Dickie” Avant.  He started working at Avant Construction Company, Inc. and then moved to Sanders Brothers Construction Company as a loader operator for the past 15 years.  He enjoyed fishing, drag racing, and watching Gamecock Football.  He was a WWII history enthusiast.  He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Sasha.  He will be truly missed by all of his family, friends, and co-workers.

Surviving are: his mother, Dorothy O’Quinn Hairston of Walterboro; two sister, Denise Avant Gerard and her husband Don of Walterboro and Nikki Avant King and her husband Clyde of Saint George; a brother, David Avant and his wife Missy of Walterboro; daughter, Ally Avant of Walterboro; nieces and nephews, Julianne, Brad, Kenzie, Brett, Lexi, and Natalie; as well as 4 great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services will be held 1 o’clock, Monday afternoon, June 10, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.
