Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, January 25, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Kinsey Cemetery.
Born December 3, 1954, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late John Mouzon Smoak, Sr. and the late Mamie Lou Colson Smoak. Reggie has been employed by CSX Railroad as well as Wildwood Landscaping; however, his greatest love and vocation in life was long distance hauling. Prior to owning his own operation, he was a professional long distance driver for Schneider National. He most of all loved his Red Peterbuilt truck. He was raised in the family church, Bethlehem Baptist Church in Round O and was also a member of Nova Church in Walterboro. He was active at Nova Church especially enjoying Quinton Mills’ sermons. Another great love in his life was motor sport racing, he was a Saturday night icon at the Summerville Speedway and has spent countless hours working and rebuilding his Camaro Race Car. Other than the devotion he possessed for his family whom he centered his life around, he will be fondly remembered for his passion of old time westerns, “Bonanza” and “Gunsmoke”.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Inga Carter Smoak; five children, Angela Smoak of Walterboro, Lisa Thompson and her husband Richard of Round O, Michele Pinnix and her husband Glenn of Round O, Reggie Smoak, Jr. and his wife Jen of Round O, and Holdan Smoak of Walterboro; two step-children, Angie Cummings of Walterboro and Thomas Craven of Walterboro; and a brother, Isaiah Crosby and his wife Annie Ruth of Walterboro. There are eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren as well as his father and mother-in-law, Thomas L. and Icey Carter of Walterboro. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Charlie Smoak, Jackie Smoak, J.M. Smoak, Jr., and Vernon Crosby, Jr.
