WALTERBORO " Mr. Raymond Neal Jones, Jr., 59, of 984 McLeod Road, Walterboro, died Monday morning, June 23, 2008, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Friday afternoon, June 27, 2008, from First Assembly of God, 2107 Hampton Street, Walterboro. Entombment will follow in Glendale Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mr. Jones was born February 22, 1949, in Colleton County and was a son of Raymond Neal Jones and the late Emmadell Hiott Jones. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a reserve and was a graduate of Walterboro High School " Class of 1967, where he lettered in Football and Track. He worked for South Carolina Electric and Gas in Walterboro where he was a lineman for twenty years and retired as an Investigator for Revenue Protection after a total of thirty-four years of service. A former member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was raised, he was a member of First Assembly of God where he had served as a Church Elder and was active with the Royal Rangers. An avid firearm collector and gunsmith, he was a member of the National Rifle Association of America. Neal will be remembered for the love he possessed for his family and friends as well as his love for the outdoors.
Surviving in addition to his father of Walterboro are: his wife of thirty-eight years, Mrs. Theresa Crosby Jones; four children; Joshua Neal Jones and his wife Karen of Walterboro, Jeanie Jones Robinson and her husband Jeff of Greensboro, North Carolina, Melissa Jones Goldman and her husband Mark of Aiken, and Laura Jones Jaworski and her husband Scott of Charlotte, North Carolina; a brother, Tommy Jones and his wife Debbie of Walterboro; and a sister, Margie Jones Moody and her husband Jim of Summerville. There are five grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Turner Crosby of Walterboro; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins that also survive.
