Randy Peters

November 9, 1954 — August 12, 2013

Mr. Randolph William “Randy” Peters, 58, of Walterboro entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 12, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. He was at the Medical University of South Carolina and was awaiting organ transplant.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday, August 17, 2013 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel.

Born on November 9, 1954, he was a native of Walterboro. He was son of Catherine Butler Peters and the late Laurie William “Pete” Peters. He was the owner and general manager of Lowcountry Office Supply in Walterboro, which he established in 1976. Elected to Walterboro City Council in 2007, it was his joy and privilege to serve the community he loved.

Randy was an active member of the Walterboro Elks Lodge, where he served as Past Exalted Ruler, chairman of the Scholarship Committee, and for many years in the past on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of Unity Lodge No. 55, A.F.M. and was a Past Master. Committed to the development of his beloved community, he was a founding committee member of the Colleton County Rice Festival and had served on the boards of the Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce and the Dogwood Hills Country Club. Randy had an intense interest in aviation. He served on the Walterboro-Colleton Airport Commission and in his younger days he had his pilot’s license and flew his own plane.

Randy loved music. At the age of 12 he was the youngest person in the state to hold a FCC license and throughout his teenage years enjoyed being a deejay at WALD Radio. He loved to entertain family and friends playing the piano “by ear” and acting in the community theater. He enjoyed golf and his Monday night pool games with his buddies at the Elks Lodge.
