Mr. Ralph Milton Smith, affectionately known as Pete, 88, of Snake Branch Drive, Round O, entered into eternal rest Friday, May 21, 2010 at Colleton Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Carrie Mae Canady Smith.



Funeral services will be held 11 oclock, Monday, May 24, 2010 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Beach Hill Cemetery in Givhans.



Mr. Smith was born April 2, 1922 in Jedburg, SC and was a son of the late Camilion Vincent Smith and Sallie Elizabeth Easterlin Smith. He retired from the South Carolina Forestry Department and was a dairy farmer. Mr. Smith served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was a member of Providence Methodist Church. He will always be remembered for his love of farming, reading and fishing, but most especially for taking care of his chickens.



Surviving are: his sons, Johnnie Ray Smith and his wife Gwen of Brooklet, Georgia and Arnold Kenneth Smith of Moncks Corner; daughters, Patricia Mae Smith of Round O, Betty Jean Moore of Walterboro, Delores Herndon and her husband Buck of Round O and Sallie Jo Fowler of Round O; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Milton Smith; two daughters, Judy Ann Smith and Ellen Dale Smith; and eleven brothers and sisters.
