Mr. Ralph Gordon Conwell, 76, of Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 3, 2021 Roper-St. Frances Hospital in West Ashley.
Born August 18, 1945 in Anderson, he was a son of the late Ralph Gordon Conwell and Alma Collins Conwell. He worked in many capacities in the textile manufacturing industry. He retired as a supervisor from JP Stevens, which became Dan River Textile. He enjoyed fishing, reading and figuring out things; but if you knew Mr. Ralph, you knew he was the handyman of the community. He loved fixing anything from small engines to electronics. Most of all, he loved his family.
Surviving are: his wife of 42 years, Ruby Ferguson Conwell; children, Curtis Ray Conwell and his wife Patricia, Kellie Denise Lesley, and Karen Lynn Bennett; his grandson and light of his life, Ryan Lesley and his wife Heather; step grandson, Cory Dunagan and his wife Brie; and his best friend and sidekick, Henry Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his sons-in-law, Robin Lesley and Randy Bennett; brother, Thomas Lloyd Conwell; sister, Thelma “Judy” Hubbard; his dear friend that he loved as a brother, Maxie Keaton; and his beloved schnauzer, Angel.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Meeting House Cemetery, Cottageville.
The family will receive friends from 10:30, Tuesday morning until the hour of service.
