Phyllis Hiers

Biography

Mrs. Phyllis Monterey H. Hiers, 96, of Ehrhardt, died at Uni-Health Post Acute Care of Bamberg on Wednesday, July 20, 2011.

Funeral services will be held 4 o'clock, Friday, July 22, 2011 at Ehrhardt Baptist Church, Ehrhardt. Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 3 pm and the family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The Deacons of Ehrhardt Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hiers was born July 14, 1915 in Ehrhardt and was a daughter of the late Jacob C. Hiers and the late Lillie Combs Hiers. She was a lifelong member of Ehrhardt Baptist Church.

Surviving are: her son, Donald Hiers (Joan) of Ehrhardt; grandson, Sgt. Rodney Hiers, US Army, Ft. Gordon, GA; granddaughter, Michele H. Gleaton (C.B.) of Blackville; two brothers, Kenneth Hiers (Carol) of Chelmesford, MA and J.C. Hiers (Faye) of North Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, H. Claude Hiers; a granddaughter, Bonnie Hiers; and four brothers, Conway Hiers, Seth Hiers, Eugene Hiers and William Hiers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Ehrhardt Baptist Church or to Ehrhardt Cemetery.
