Phillip Stanley

Mr. Phillip Martin Stanley, Sr., 72, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, January 24, 2022 at his sister's residence.

Born December 3, 1949 in Hampton County, he was a son of the late John Norris Stanley and Annie Lee Tuten Stanley.  He served his country in the United States Army and was a retired contractor.  He attended Varnville First Baptist Church.  Mr. Stanley loved fishing and was a member of the Hampton County Bass Masters.  He was always helping anyone he could and was a jack of all trades.  He loved everyone, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his children, Phillip Martin Stanley, Jr., and Misty Kelley; brother, John Norris Stanley, Jr.; sisters, Sarah Jane Altman, Carrie Mock, and Annie Wilson; and grandchildren, Phillip Martin Stanley, III, Austin Kelley, Trinity Ginn, Lauren Stanley, Haley Stanley, and Savannah Kelley.  He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Stanley; sister, Margie Stanley; and brother, Sammy Stanley.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Friday morning, January 28, 2022 at Varnville First Baptist Church with The Reverend Dr. Tommy Kelly officiating.  Interment will follow in Sandy Run Cemetery, Sandy Run Road, Hampton.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 in the church sanctuary.
