Mrs. Peggy Smith Jarrell, of Nixville, entered into heavenly rest on December 1, 2025, at Quillen Manor in Fountain Inn, South Carolina while under hospice care. She was happily married to Mr. C. Lee Jarrell for 63 years.
Born February 26, 1944, in Ridgeland, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Jim Smith and Lucille Mock Smith of Grays. Peggy graduated from Grays High School in 1962. While she held several jobs including insurance agent, mail carrier and substitute teacher over the years, her passion was her family and her church.
A member of Nixville Baptist Church for over 60 years, she was a fixture at the piano and in the choir. She was also a leader in the children, youth and senior citizen ministries as well as other areas of service. When not at church, you were likely to spot her at PHA athletic events, and she loved to visit the mountains every chance she had.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two children, Curt Jarrell (Cindy) of Simpsonville and Laura Harvey (Jonathan) of Nixville; her sister, Doris Bowers (Jimmy) of Nixville; five grandchildren, Cameron Jarrell (Rebekah), Cody Jarrell (Lauren), Kelli Brooks (Parker), Hunter Spielman and Cailee Harvey; and three great grandchildren, Noah Jarrell, Palmer Jarrell and Ivy Brooks. She was predeceased by her daughters, April, Hope and Lisa; and her brother, Robert Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, December 6, 2025, at Nixville Baptist Church, 3915 Two Sisters Ferry Road, Estill. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00, Friday evening, December 5, 2025, at Nixville Baptist Church.
