Mrs. Pauline Burge Polly Jones Smith, 85, of Walterboro, went to her eternal rest on Tuesday morning, June 30, 2009 under the care of Odyssey Hospice at the home of her daughter. She was the widow of Doctor Warren Smith, whom she was married to for 40 years.



Funeral services will be held 1 oclock, Friday afternoon, July 3, 2009, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 403 Church Street, Walterboro. Interment will follow at Williams Cemetery in Williams, SC.



The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the hour of service at the church.



Mrs. Smith was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, a daughter of the late John Burge Jones and the late Julia Anderson Callaway Jones. She attended Ringling School of Art and the University of Tampa. Her great love of art led to her owning and operating The Frame Shop in Walterboro for a number of years. Mrs. Smith was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, a homemaker, a devoted and loving mother and very active in the civic organizations of the community, including the Fine Arts Club and Garden Club.



She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Warren Skeet Smith, Jr. of Gilbert and Malcolm Bugs Smith of Walterboro; three daughters, Julia Ransom of Los Angeles, California, Cricket Morris of Round O and Becky Smith of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Judy Hensley of East Lake Weir, Florida; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Madison Nat Smith; and her sister, Barbara Stokes.
