Paula Lynn Smith

Mrs. Paula Crosby Smith, 68, entered into rest Monday afternoon, June 6, 2022, at NHC in Bluffton.

Born December 14, 1953, in Colleton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Laurie E. Crosby and the late Margaret Crapse Crosby Long.   She retired as a supervisor, having worked for the Department for Health and Environmental Control in Walterboro with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Office located in the Bernard Warshaw Building.  She was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church and will always be remembered for the love she had for reading and flowers.

Surviving are: her sister, Brenda Heffner of Yemassee as a host of cousins.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Gainey; her step-father, Charlie Long, Sr.; and her husband, Joel Rutland.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 o’clock Saturday morning, June 18, 2022, from the graveside in Peniel United Methodist Churchyard, 1590 Peniel Road, Walterboro.
