Mr. Paul Chester McGahan, 63, of 227 Mill Street, Walterboro, died Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2009, at his residence under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.



Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Friday afternoon, March 6, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.



Mr. McGahan was born July 2, 1945, in Huntington, West Virginia and was a son of the late Jesse Sheridan McGahan and the late Edna Irene Willis McGahan. He served his country faithfully for ten years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He had a strong work ethic, and always loved to work. He retired from Circle C at Canadys where he worked in various capacities to include a wrecker driver and store clerk. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Walterboro. He will be fondly recalled for the love he possessed for his family, as well as the joy of wood crafting, playing a good game of golf, and fishing.



Surviving are: his wife of twenty-nine years, Mrs. Alice Bunton McGahan; three sons, Paul Allen McGahan of Hampton, Gerald Lee Shaw of Walterboro, and Timothy Allen Shaw of Byesville, Ohio; and a daughter, Patarica Ann Ritter and her husband Robert Ritter, Jr. of Walterboro. There are three grandchildren, Natalie Nicole, Hailie Rose, and Robert William Asher Ritter that also survive.
