Paul Haase

Mr. Paul John Haase, 58, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Southeastern Georgia Hospital in Brunswick, Georgia.

Born September 21, 1967, in Ayshire, Scotland, he was a son of David Sanderson and Morag MacKinnon Sparks. Paul dedicated his life to law enforcement. Having worked for agencies in Goose Creek, Dorchester, and Cottageville, he eventually retired as a Major from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Department under the Sheriff R.A. “Andy” Strickland administration. His law enforcement career also included the South Carolina Ports Authority in Charleston, SRO for Colleton County School District, and as a process server for various law firms throughout South Carolina.

Paul also served his community on the Colleton County School Board; as well as served as Athletic Director and coached softball and volleyball for North Walterboro Christian Academy. He was of the southern Baptist faith and was active in the children’s ministry of his church. An avid collector who constantly collected badges and other law enforcement memorabilia, he will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Surviving in addition to his parents are: his wife of 31 years, Mary Jo Haase of Walterboro; children, Brittany Haase (Cody Carroll), Brandy Haase, Kingston Cleveland, Larry Richardson (Kayla), Justin Richardson (Kourtney), and Tye Richardson (Candice); adopted father, Gary Haase; brother, David Haase; sisters, Donna Haase and Angela Patrick; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Ashley Richardson; grandchild, Gabriellen; and sister, Sandra Cooper.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
