Mrs. Patricia DesRochers Wiggins, 67, of Meggett, entered into rest Friday evening, January 16, 2015, at Roper Hospital in Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Tuesday, January 20, 2015, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Alex Mark officiating. Entombment will follow in Glendale Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Born August 1, 1947, a native of Torrington, Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late Herbert J. DesRochers and the late Marion Bradford DesRochers. Following her graduation from college, Pat dedicated her life to helping and serving others through physical therapy. For many years, she was employed with Roper Hospital where her work eventually led her to being Chief of their Physical Therapy Department. She earned her Masters Degree and then took a position teaching Physical Therapy students at the Medical University of South Carolina. She attended Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church in Yonges Island. She was an active member of Socks for Soldiers and was co-leader of Stitches of Love from Tennessee. The greatest devotion in her life was her family and among her passions in life was caring for her family, charity knitting, and reading.
Surviving are: her husband of forty-two years, Mr. Charles Kenneth Wiggins; two sons, Kent Wiggins and his wife Alyson of Columbus, Georgia and Adam Wiggins and his wife Alyson of Mount Pleasant; and four siblings, William DesRochers and his wife Sue of Seymour, Tennessee, Elizabeth DesRochers of Mammoth Lakes, California, Ernest DesRochers and his wife Jean Marie of Norwalk, Connecticut, and James DesRochers and his wife Sarah of West Dover, Vermont. There are three grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, and Lauren; fourteen nieces and nephews; her godson, David DesRochers, dear friends, Mary Alice Truesdale and Donna Katsaounis as well as her two beloved companions, Charlie Brown and Cinnamon that also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Christian DesRochers.
