Biography

Mrs. Patricia Boyce Shunk, 89, of Klein Street in Walterboro, departed this earthly life Monday morning, May 6, 2013, at the Oakwood Health Care Center in Walterboro. She was the wife of sixty-seven years to the late Mr. Richard Durborow Shunk.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, May 12, 2013, from the Walterboro Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 842 Bedon Road, Walterboro. Mr. Charles B. Ware, III officiating.

Born February 23, 1924, a native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she resided in Lancaster county before having made Walterboro her home for the past thirty-nine years. She was a daughter of the late Melvin C. Boyce and the late Mary Herr Stively Boyce. Pat, as she was known by friends and family, received her Bachelor of Science Degree at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a teacher for the Lancaster County School District. She was a member of the Walterboro Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Surviving are: a son, William Randall Shunk and his wife, Patricia Jane Shunk of Columbia, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Roberts S. Boyce and his wife Miriam of Palmyra, Pennsylvania and Melvin C. Boyce, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Quarryville, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Beatrice "Bebe" Schreiber of Quarryville, Pennsylvania. There are seven nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews that also survive as well as her devoted caregivers and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Walterboro Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, care of 290 Country Lane, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
