COTTAGEVILLE- Mrs. Patricia Lynn OBier Sweat Ackerman, 53, of 2393 Red Oak Road, Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 26, 2009 at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends under the care of Hospice of South Carolina.



Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak in Cottageville.



Mrs. Ackerman was born October 22, 1956 in Hollywood, Florida and was a daughter of Patricia Evelyn Reeves Laity and the late John Douglas OBier, Sr. She was an employee of the Press and Standard in Walterboro; and was a former office manager for Emile Boris Accounting Service in Charleston, DL Warren Construction in Charleston and Doug Miles in Summerville. She was of the Southern Baptist faith. She loved fishing and going shopping with her sister, but more than anything, she loved her family and friends and spending anytime that she could with them.



Surviving are: her husband George Woodrow Ackerman of Cottageville; mother and step father, Pat and Gerald Laity of Jedburg; children, Brett Walker Murray and his wife Desiree of Grover, Corey Allen Sweat and his wife Christina of Jedburg; step children, Christie Lynn Blocker and her husband David of Cottageville and Ashley Woodrow Ackerman of Cottageville; sister, Evelyn OBier Ward and her husband Hank of Jedburg; nine grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by a brother John Douglas OBier, Jr.
