Parker Lyons

Mr. Arnett “Parker” Lyons, Jr., 88, of Walterboro, entered into rest Tuesday afternoon, October 26, 2022, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born April 2, 1934, in Smoaks, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Arnett Lyons, Sr. and the late Ella Linder Lyons.  He was a retired planner and estimator from the Charleston Naval Shipyard.   He was a longtime member of over forty years at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Walterboro, where he was dedicated and faithful to serving his church.  He was a talented carpenter and plumber and after his retired opened and operated his own business.  He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed spending time in the Elloree and Santee area.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Sue Smith Lyons; children, Todd Lyons, Janet Stanfield, Lorrie Haynes, Patty Lyons, Dean Litchfield, Thomas “Sambo” Grayson, and Lucky Beach; two sisters, Joyce Brabham and Lessie Mae Wooten; sixteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-three years, Mrs. Norma Jean Beach Lyons; and three children, Sidney Beach, Vicki Lyons, and Linda Leach.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, October 29, 2022, from the graveside in Mount Carmel United Methodist Churchyard, 5277 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.  The Reverend Douglas Marchant officiating.    The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 1 o’clock in the church sanctuary.
